UTGuns Precinct and Caucus Info

You've decided to become a delegate.  You want to get rid of slick, anti-gun politicians like Mike Leavitt and Orrin Hatch!  Congratulations!

You've read the info on becoming a delegate.  You've signed up on the volunteer list.

Now, how do you find out where your caucus meeting is being held?  First you need to know what PRECINCT you live in, and then find your party's CAUCUS meeting for your precinct.

STEP ONE: What PRECINCT am I in?

    1. Check your voter registration card.  It will list your precinct, along with your district for Congress, Utah House, Utah Senate and School Board.  However, some precinct boundaries have changed so double-check this info using one of the other methods below!
    2. If you don't have your voter registration card you can:
                a. Call your county clerk.  The number is in your phone book, and on the County Clerk web page.
                b. Use the Utah web site precinct and polling place locator.  (This may not work for everyone.)
    1.  If you don't know what county you're in, check the map.

STEP TWO: Where is my CAUCUS meeting?

    1. Determine in which party's caucus you wish to participate.
    2. Check your newspaper.  We're told the Tribune will be publishing lists Saturday March 25 and the Deseret News on Sunday March 26.
    3. For Republicans:
    4. For Democrats:  Call 801-328-1212
    5. For the Independent American Party: Call 801-375-8833
    6. For the Libertarian Party: Call 801-534-8872 0r 800-280-7900
    7. For the Natural Law Party:  Call (801)322-1977
    8. For the Reform Party: Call (800)902-5600

More party information is available here.

STEP THREE: ATTEND your caucus meeting!

    1. Republican and Democrat caucuses will be held on MONDAY MARCH 27 starting at 7 PM.  (Check with other parties for their arrangements.)
    2. Please make sure you know how to get to your caucus meeting in advance.  Don't risk getting lost!
    3. Plan to arrive by about 6:50 to make sure you're there on time and get a seat.  If your caucus is at a private home, please be considerate of the hosts, and don't arrive too early!
    4. Bring along as many like-minded friends and neighbors as possible.  (They must live in the precinct to participate!)
    5. Consider carpooling.  This will help encourage your shy neighbors to attend, will benefit those who are unable to drive, and will help avoid parking problems.
    6. Decide in advance who will run for each office - i.e. Precinct Chair, other precinct officers, State delegate and County delegate.
    7. Participants in Republican caucuses MUST be registered Republicans!  Registration forms will be available at the caucus meetings, and you may register there.  However, UTGuns recommends that you register before the caucus meetings.
      1. Utah voter registration
      2. Voter registration form (requires Adobe Acrobat reader)
