Democrat House Minority Leader, and Utah's most prolific gun control advocate, Rep. Dave Jones is retiring! He will NOT be running for re-election to the legislature this year!
Why? In his own words...

Dave Jones has been in the legislature for nearly 12 years. What made the difference this year?
YOU! YOUR CALLS, EMAILS and ACTIVE PARTICIPATION!
The good citizens of Utah have finally made it clear that we value our rights and our Constitution. The liberal media, with its biased news and fraudulent polls doesn't speak for US! The ghouls who gleefully dance on the graves of crime victims, shedding crocodile tears and demanding more victim disarmament (and more crime), don't speak for US! The UEA/PTA crones who want to paint targets on the chests of our innocent children don't speak for US! Spineless politicians who "believe" whatever the latest poll tells them to believe, and shamelessly violate their oaths to uphold the Constitution don't speak for US! And Governor Leavitt, the man behind both Democrat and Republican gun control in Utah, absolutely does not speak for US!
WE are winning!
Credit for this goes to YOU - to all the grassroots activists who took time out of their busy lives to get involved, to contact legislators, to write letters, to attend hearings, to educate others. It's not the "big gun lobby" doing this; in fact, USSC and the NRA SUPPORTED SB 72, and Rob Bishop actively lobbied FOR its passage! It's not even organizations like UTGuns or GOUtah! - all we can do is keep you informed. The key to victory was, and always will be, people like YOU! THANK YOU!
We can do even MORE! If you haven't already done so, PLEASE volunteer to be a delegate to your State and/or County conventions. Delegates will decide which candidates run for office! We don't have to tolerate anti-liberty politicians - we can elect pro-freedom, pro-gun candidates THIS YEAR - but only if YOU HELP!
Let's help Mike Leavitt, Orrin Hatch, and most of the Utah legislature
to join Dave Jones in retirement!

Please remember to contact Gov. Leavitt, Republican leadership, and YOUR legislators and insist that they actively work to make sure that SB 72 is vetoed!!
